Terms of Service — Following Jesus

These terms govern your use of the Following Jesus app and course platform. By using either, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the service.

What we offer

Following Jesus provides a free discipleship app and an online course platform, often used in connection with a local church, to help people grow in following Jesus.

Accounts

Some features (browsing Bible content, daily readings) don't require an account. Becoming a leader or disciple, or taking a course, requires signing in with Google.

You're responsible for the activity that happens under your account. If you believe your account has been used without your permission, contact us right away.

Age and parental guidance

Following Jesus is intended primarily for adults, though we recognize minors (for example, through a church youth group) may use it. If you're under 18, we encourage you to use this with the awareness and involvement of a parent, guardian, or pastor.

Leaders, disciples, and pastoral care

This is important, so we want to be direct about it: Following Jesus is a tool to support discipleship relationships — it is not a substitute for professional counseling, pastoral care, or emergency services. Leaders on this platform are approved by a pastor at the applicant's own church, but Following Jesus does not conduct background checks or independently verify leaders. If you or someone you know is in crisis, please contact a licensed professional, your pastor directly, or emergency services.

Acceptable use

When using group chat, direct messages, or discussion features, please:

Treat others with respect and kindness.
Don't share anything illegal, abusive, harassing, or harmful.
Don't impersonate someone else or misrepresent your identity.
Don't attempt to access another person's account or data without permission.

We reserve the right to remove content or suspend accounts that violate these terms.

Content

Course content, including videos, written material, and the accompanying book, is the property of Following Jesus and Samuel Deuth, and is provided for personal, non-commercial use in your own discipleship journey.

Church admin and leader responsibilities

If you're given church admin, group leader, or leader access, you're able to see certain information about the people connected to you (their course progress, discussion answers, or messages). This access is a trust extended to you by your church and by the people you're discipling — please use it responsibly and only for its intended purpose.

No warranty

Following Jesus is provided "as is." We do our best to keep it running smoothly, but we don't guarantee it will always be available, error-free, or uninterrupted.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Following Jesus and its creators aren't liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the app or course platform.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of the service after changes means you accept the updated terms.
